Matt Williams was well into his 40s before he first noticed the buildup of several nagging body pains. Having always led a movement-based lifestyle—running, golfing, and playing with his kids—Matt was accustomed to staying active and fit, which made the onset of accumulating aches and pains a growing concern as time passed.
“After 45, my body just started to heal slower. Muscle and joint injuries that used to take a few days or a week to heal now stayed and developed into a constant, nagging pain that affected my day to day life.”
In addition to his growing list of chronic injuries, he also suffered from stress-induced muscle knots in his back. These knots limited his mobility and hampered his ability to get a good night's sleep.
Matt did all that he could to mitigate the cumulative stressors that increasing, nagging pain brought to his life— stretching, cold and hot compresses. "I found it hard to exercise and play with my boys when you don't have confidence your body can handle it." He finally resorted to two daily Ibuprofens to manage the pain and get through the day.
The Thing About NSAIDs
Before we get further into Matt’s tale of healing, let’s talk about NSAIDs. Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs are commonly taken to alleviate the various aches and pains that are so often accumulated with advancing age—which is ironic, considering that they can cause or worsen many conditions in older populations.
These drugs can be a powerful stimulus, and they are certainly well-indicated for several conditions in the medical setting. Having said that, typical aging should not be one of them, and according to the Cleveland Clinic, the ongoing usage of pain-based or anti-inflammatory, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs have been linked to higher risks of stroke, heart attack, and worsening blood pressure in populations who take them regularly.
Furthermore, some NSAIDs can cause several side effects from habitual usage, including but not limited to:
For a class of medication that’s so widely available OTC for pain relief, that’s a long list of potential downsides!
And therein lies the rub: old injuries and life’s stressors all tend to accumulate over time, keeping you from doing the things you love the most. You can choose to medicate and battle through the best you can, or you can begin to become less active and more sedentary which carries its own health consequences.
Cold Laser Therapy - A Better, More Natural Way To Heal
Matt’s collection of nagging and incessant injuries ultimately led him to several physical therapist and chiropractic appointments. At one such appointment, Matt experienced Cold Laser Therapy (CLT) also known as Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) for the first time. A Class IV laser was applied for just a few minutes, but Matt noticed a difference that evening and also sleep better than he had in weeks.
Convinced he was onto something, Matt went back, scheduling a visit twice weekly for the next month for PBM Therapy treatments. He was in less overall pain and began to steadily increase his activity level. However, Matt found it stressful to fit appointments into his busy schedule, and the out-of-pocket treatment expenses were starting to add up.
Matt began researching Cold Laser Therapy on his own and found his way to the Cold Laser Supplies website. After speaking with one of our customer support staff, he ultimately purchased the Multi Radiance TQ Solo Cold Laser System.
Bringing Cold Laser Therapy Home
Matt used the TQ Solo before his daily morning stretch routine. He continued to experience less inflammation and muscle tightness, he also noticed that treatment consistency - using the TQ Solo every day - improved his results and he felt better for longer periods of time.
His reduced body pain improved other parts of his life as well - he began sleeping more regularly, he was able to focus more at work, and he had more energy for his running, weekend golf, and after-school playtime.
A year has passed, and Matt's back issues and nagging injuries are all but gone. He still uses the TQ Solo for any muscle and joint pain that occasionally pops up, but the recovery is more manageable and faster now.
He now uses the TQ Solo proactively and will treat his back, knees, or elbows before strenuous exercise which he finds helps reduce minor muscle pulls and joint soreness.
Looking back Matt is thankful he did not stay complacent with his chronic pain. He's happy to have found a natural and effective way to control his pain without the side effects of NSAIDS or other drugs. "I don't know why it's not more popular, I am just glad I stumbled across it."
While Matt will admit the device is expensive (TQ Solo retail price is $2495.00) he believes the investment in this health, his increased activity level, and improved quality of life is worth it. "You can't put a price tag on taking your kids hiking and camping or joining your buddies on a golf trip...these windows and opportunities are short, and you want to make the most of it while you can."
